5/3/2007 12:46:28 AM 11 pounds Debbie Perry, Bryan Perry, Ron Castille Watermelon/red lizard and sweet beaver I just returned from the lake with Dr. Randy Perry, his wife Debbie and their 24 year old son. Randy fished with his wife the first day and she caught an 11 pounder, he then fished with his son the second day and his son caught an 11 pounder then he fished with me the third day and I caught an 11 pounder. At noon on the third day I was trying to auction his butt of to some of the pro fishermen that were at the lodge so they could catch an 11.....lol. The fish are hitting watermelon/red lizards, sweet beavers and brush hogs. We caught all of the 11 pounders in over 15 feet of water.
4/24/2007 11:11:20 AM Largest 11.25 lbs 34 fishermen Watermelon/red rush HogB Lake Guerrero is really on a fast track of recovering from the 2002 drought. So far this year we have had a 15 pounder and 2 - 13 pounders. The spawn so far has been great with most fishermen catching good sized fish along with really good numbers per day. The resident bass which greatly outnumber the stocked Florida bass are very plentiful but are generally much smaller - usually under 3 pounds (around 1.50 pound average). Over 100 fish per boat has been recently reported. It surly was a wonderful sight to see the expression of my 14 year old when he stuck his 9 pounder and she exploded out of the water. We had been catching a bunch of small fish then the old girl ate his junebug/chart tail lizard. I was even more proud when he decided to release her. Since April 10th until yesterday the 21st. this is what has been recorded by 34 fishermen on the Big Bass Board at Hacienda Santa Fe: 9.6 - Kent Castille - June bug lizard - 12 feet 7.5 - Stan Kordish - sluggo - 5 feet 7.13 - Doug Scoggins - brush hog - 5/7 feet 11.4 - Ken Fournerat - brush hog - 5/7 feet 10.4 - Ken Fournerat - brush hog - 5/7 feet 8.8 - Ken Fournerat - brush hog - 5/7 feet 8.13 - Rusty Eckel - brush hog - 6 feet 8.4 - Kerry Bennet - topwater - big chug bug - 7 feet 10.2 - Ron Castille - brush hog - 7 feet 7.1 - Tatus Hoffpauir - worm - 8 feet 9.8 - Bill Grosso - lizard - 12 feet 7.10 - Jermey Mancuso - lizard - 4 feet 9.2 - Ronnie Hoffpauir - brush hog - 12 feet 8.6 - Bill Grosso - magnum lizard - 10/12 feet 10.5 - Chad Grosso - magnum lizard - 10 feet April has been a great month with the fish moving into shallow water. We will be booking night trips for your summer time fishing enjoyment. June, July, August and maybe September. The night before, the night of and the night after the full moon is when we are planning these trips. Last year we had great success at night and most of the night fishermen are planning to re-book with us this year. I can only accommodate 20 full package fishermen so call soon.
2/26/2007 2:38:36 PM Largest 13 pounds Houchin Group pumpkin/chart worm Sandy Bjornson of Tulsa led the pack with a 13 pound GIANT Lake Guerrero bass. He was fishing the east side of the lake and using a pumpkin/chart worm. Jeff Hand also from Tulsa held up his 11.1 pounder for pictures at the dock. The Lake Guerrero lunker smiled for the cameras then with a little help from her captor swam away -hopefully to provide another future angler the joy of catching her again but maybe weighing a bit more than she did last week. The group of 24 tallied 29 fish over 5 pounds and had several boats reporting over 100 fish per day.
8/13/2006 1:46:35 PM 10 pounds 9 fishing at night Zoom ultra vibe We fished the night before and the night of the full moon in August. Results were great. We averaged over 50 fish per boat per night. One boat had 89 fish one night. The largest was a 10 pounder caught by David Hebert from Jennings, LA. He was using a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw. There were several fish caught in the 4, 5 and 6 pound range. Most of the fish were just under 2 pounds. We caught fish on buzz baits and spinner baits but all of the good fish were captured on plastic worms and creature baits. The first two nights were picture perfect for night fishing. We saw many shooting stars and got a good look at the Milky Way. The moon was very bright and seeing was not a problem. An upper level low weather system moved into the western Gulf and kicked up the wind making it too difficult to fish the night after the full moon. The service, margaritas and food were great. The chef prepared the best food, most had ever eaten in Mexico. They fished out of their boats but you can bring your own boat if you like and pay $125 per day per person for room and board. We had no border problems going into Mexico or coming back into the States. We might be going back to fish the full moon of Sept (the nights of the 6th,7th and 8th) if you are interested call 337-477-5260.
6/4/2006 10:10:27 PM 6 pounds Ron & Kevin Castille watermelon Baby Brush Hog The fish are shallow in the bushes near deep water and we have been pitching baby brush hogs with 3/16's weights. It has been raining and when I left this last Monday all the rivers and creeks that I drove over were flowing. I hope the water comes up because it has fallen about 6 feet since last December. If you know of any dove hunters please send them my way. The whitewing dove are very plentiful now so I can only imagine how thick they will be in August.
4/10/2006 4:45:37 PM 12 and 10 Bob, Joe, Ray watermelon r/mf worm and Brush Hog We had a 12 and a 10 pounder caught last week at Hacienda Santa Fe. If the wind would have slacked off a bit I think we would have had more.
3/27/2006 10:38:15 AM 11.1 pounds Ron Castille DB3 Magnum Caught on Cowsh*t point south of the dam. There was a 10.9 caught the next day on a watermelon 6 inch lizard at the mouth of the Pilon River.
4/18/2005 2:49:51 PM 10 & 10.5 Kenneth Goins Group Topwater and crankbait Kenneth, Boyd, Chase, Charlie, Shaun, Derald, Doug, Ray and Ron. Caught many fish on watermelon red metal flake lizards, baby brusg hogs, chartruce & white spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Boyd caught a 10.5 on a large topwater bait the last morning og the trip and followed that with another 10.0 on a large crankbait that afternoon. There was an 11.5 caught while we were there. Our group of 9 fishermen recorded 2 - 10's, 2 - 9's and 3 - 8's. With many fish between 3 and 5 pounds. The high wind was a factor 2 of the 6 sessions but we still able to fish.
4/1/2005 7:02:00 PM 6 lbs Lud, Terron, George, Ray and Ron Watermelon lizards, Baby brush hogs, cinco's, vibra-craw's and spinner baits 5 fishermen fished for 3 days. The weather was great 5 out of the 6 sessions. We caught over 700 bass. The largest was 6 pounds but had many over 3 pounds. Had a great trip! ! ! !
3/24/2005 2:15:38 AM 8lbs Jack Strong group watermelon lizards Caught many fish on watermelon lizards, Baby Brush Hogs Cinco's (all dipped in chartruce garlic scented Dip-n-Dye)and spinnerbaits. Most fish were caught in the brush in 4 - 6 feet of water. Many fish over 4 pounds caught.
5/2/2003 11:00:39 AM 10.2 lbs largest Group of 6 at Big Bass   We fished the points on the East bank of the lake and some around the islands. The "hot" lures were: spinner baits - chart / white with chart plastic curl tail trailer 3/8's to 3/4 oz. the best combination was a front silver Colorado blade and a silver willow 4 & !/2 size blade. One guy did very well on a chart / white / blue skirt with a front Colorado silver blade and a 4 1/2 gold willow back blade. If your buddy catches a fish near the bank and it's a small fish you should, as quickly as possible, cast in the same area and catch the female. I finally found a benefit of fishing in the back of the boat...lol. The next lure that worked well was a watermelon r/m/f lizard with a chart tail (dyed with garlic scented Dip-n-dye works best). The lizard produced nice sized fish when fished Carolina rigged with a clacker weight and 24 inch leader and did well when fished Texas rigged. The 10.2 was caught on the watermelon lizard Texas rigged on a main lake point in about 10 feet of water. I caught some fish up to 4 pounds on a chrome black back Baby Torpedo (early morning only). The French fry, Texas and Carolina rigged both, worked well for numbers but not too many big fish. I saw a Mexican fisherman catch several nice fish on a Zara spook at the same time I was throwing the Baby Torpedo. After the sun came up and the top water bite ended we caught some 2 - 3 pounders on a Fat Free Shad ( one that will run about 6 -7 feet deep) chart / blue back worked well and the med. runner Bomber white shad color.
3/25/2003 2:08:08 PM 10 to 12 pounds Jim Beggerly and Ron Castille spinnerbait Jim Beggerly and Ron Castille were fishing out of Big Bass lodge on Lake Guerrero for 3 days. They caught aprox. 200 bass with the largest fish hooked getting away. Jim hooked a large bass near the dam and watched as the fish jumped 3 times and finially slung the hook on the third jump. The event was videoed by Ron and after many slow motion replays, it was decided that the fish did get away, also, it was decided that the fish weighed around 11 pounds! Better luck next time, Jim. Most fish were caught on chartruse spinnerbaits and jerk baits. For more info call Ron at 800-284-5210
5/23/2002 1:11:24 AM n/a Woodhouse group Rat-L-Trap and tequila worms A morning trip of 22 bass with 4 keepers turned out to be a good outing despite the wind very hard. Maybe the wind will shut down this afternoon. Pray for light winds an a safe fishing trip more so if the wind is still strong. Ron

The largest was estimated at four and a half pounds. Strong wings but it seemed that the fish were biting better on the windy points. Most fish were caught on the east bank of the lake near and south of the dam. The beer was cold and all had a lots of fun........ Ron
5/2/2002 3:49:09 PM n/a John Houchin group 3/8 spinner baits (chart/blue)and Bomber model A (fire tiger) 4 fishermen caught around 30 fish with 17 of them keepers. released 2 bass over 4 pounds. they were fishing near the dam. very little to no wind.
4/24/2002 10:56:53 AM n/a Larry Eddy group watermelon seed lizard dipped in chart/dip-n-dye group caught 102 fish with 24 of them being keepers. the wind blew very hard and made fishing in the main lake tough. the group stayed mainly in the Purafacation River.
4/11/2002 12:08:41 PM n/a Fran and Don Kemnitz, full package watermelon seed lizard dipped in chart d-&-d, chrome rat-l-trap Cloudy skies and threating rain slowed the fishing some. Don and Fran still mananged to catch some keeper bass. Mike (camp manager) reported about an inch of rain last night. thats good news. It has been brought to my attention that the published report of 4 seven pound fish is wrong. the report should read 2) 4.7 pound bass were caught not 4) 7 pound bass. sorry for the error. ron castille

4/4/2002 8:35:58 PM no big fish Lawson & Gardner full package group watermelon seed lizard and rat-l-traps 15 mph north winds made fishing very tough this afternoon. most fishermen still caught fish (averaged 10 fish / person) but no big fish were recorded (over 7 lbs). windy conditions made casting rat-l-traps easier than lizards and other soft plastic lures.
4/4/2002 2:27:23 PM 4 pounds+ Lawson & Gardner group watermelon lizard and watermelon flukes 16 full package fishermen caught bass up to 4.7 pounds in the first morning of their fishing trip. they came in for a great lunch and most wanted to get right back on the water. we will update the results of the second fishing session. today is the first day of their 3 day trip. more reports to follow.
