Fish Tails

I just returned from Lake Guerrero and the fishing was great. In two days of fishing, Ray (my cameraman) and I caught 170 bass with the largest going 5 3/4 pounds. We had over 80 keepers. Most of them were caught in 6 - 10 feet of water in the flooded bushes. Watermelon seed and watermelon w/red metal flake were the colors. Dipping the tails in garlic chartreuse Dip-N-Dye on low light conditions worked better than not dipping them. 7 to 8 inch worms, baby brush hogs (Zoom), ring fries (Lake Fork tackle makes them), super flukes(Zoom) all worked well. Slow rolling a chartreuse/white 1/2 oz spinner bait also worked great. Topwater action was slow for us.

Ron:
Just a note to let you know we made out trip ok, and enjoyed your new place. Mike was really good to us and made us a deal since you were not booked up at the lodge. We went to camp but stayed in the lodge. we liked being out off the wind. You have great potential there if mother nature treats that area good. We caught about 50-60 fish a day, did better than most that were at your camp. We new where to fish and new how to bass fish. We fished the south aurora two days and fished the islands 1 and 1/2 days.  The most fish we caught were from the south aurora.

The water at the islands was to cold to start the spawn there  so the big fish had not moved up.  David Parkers group and our group had 10 to a limit of keeper fish each day. The biggest fish that we caught as a group was near 6lbs.Looks like the spawn will get on strong in March & early April. Times are changing there, when we started coming to the lake the middle of Feb. was just right. Now the weather is still to cool with the fronts that we have here in the states reaching all the way down there. Good luck to you on the new camp and I will be talking to you later this year.
PS: If you change web pages or e-mail address please let me know. You can by e-mail keep me informed as to the lake conditions and any other thing of interest

Thanks

Ron,

I really enjoyed my recent trip to beautiful Lake Guerrero, Mexico.

I caught bass weighing 11-5, 10-6, 9-3, 3 over 8 and 3 over 7.I also was very pleased with the large number of 4 - 5 pound fish.

I am proud to tell you I've now caught ninety - three [93] bass over 10 pounds while fishing on Lake Guerrero with the largest being 15-5. John Fish.jpg (37550 bytes) I have lost much bigger fish.

Being disabled, I really appreciate the help you and your staff have provided since I first fished Guerrero in 1989.  You may not recognize me now as I've lost 112 pounds since July 16, 1999.  I lost the weight to help me fish.  I look forward to the years ahead while chasing my dreams  on Lake Guerrero.
