Fishing is really great.........
Six fishermen fished parts of 5 days and recorded these three Big fish.
They were caught on a lizard, French fry and spinner bait.

The lake has risen about 15 to 16 feet since the spring, most of the water came from Hurricane Dean. Check out the dead willow trees in the first picture and compare the water level in the second picture. With the recent rain, I think the lake will continue to rise for about another two weeks. The water is still flowing muddy and it usually clears up and still flows for a week or so after the rivers clear up. The fishing reports are getting better and will be even better in a about a week. This will make the fall fishing really good and will make conditions for a great spring.
I have been working on the lake for about 20 years and every time this has happened the fishing is fabulous.........
So get your gear ready and make some plans to experience some really GREAT fishing.

I returned from Lake Guerrero on January 17th 2006 with what I feel is some GREAT news. I have made an agreement with Fernando Andrade that will be beneficial to my clients as well as me. We will combine our efforts to provide you with the best fishing and or hunting experiences ever offered on or near Lake Guerrero at Hacienda Santa Fe. The lodge is located off of the road to Old Padilla and it's on the Purification River. Fernando is the owner of the property and lives in Monterrey. He loves fishing and hunting. Fernando speaks very good English and understands what it takes to make the American clients feel at home. He and I came very close to making a contract in the summer of 2004. I fell in love with the lodge then and now I am very honored that I will be a part of such a great location. The lodge is ready now to accept fishing and hunting clients. Quail, morning dove, duck and goose hunting will continue until the middle of Feb. I should have said "shooting" - the numbers of birds that are down there now makes it a shooting trip instead of hunting for game trip. The fishing has been great with the water level higher than it's been in years. There was a fishing tournament January 14th and 15th, with the largest Bass weighing over 6 kilo's (that's around 13.5 pounds). I was unable to find out what the stringer weight was but when you have a 13+ in your stringer it should have been a great stringer.
We will be accepting bookings for full package and room and board clients. At this time we are unable to offer camping spots but I hope that will change soon. I will be sending out more info on the lodge as it becomes available.

Hey guys: I just returned from Lake Guerrero last night. I fished with Rollin Harpring from Indiana. We caught a 10 lb'er, a 9 lb'er, a 8.5 lb'er, 2 - 6 lb'ers, 3 - 5 lb'ers and 8 - 4 lb'ers. The last afternoon we boated over 80 fish with the largest being 5 pounds all in shallow water on spinnerbaits and flukes. The weather was great. Only one morning was too foggy to run, so we fished in the Purification River and still caught 30 fish -largest was 4 pounds. The best lures were 3/4 oz ( for deep water) and 1/8 oz ( for shallow water) spinnerbaits chartreuse and white skirt. Baby bass, watermelon red/flake and blue glimmer colored Zoom super flukes. Watermelon red/flake 6" lizards and watermelon red/flake Baby Brush Hogs. The four largest fish were caught on heavy spinnerbaits in 10 - 12 feet of water. We are open for room and board and full package fishing clients. This spring has the makings of a great fishing bonanza. The numbers of fish are astounding. The largest fish caught in the last couple of months has been a 14 pounder. One of my guides, Pepe, had 2 fish over 10 pounds with a pair of anglers he guided on Feb 18th and 19th. In 2005 I know of over 30 fish caught over 10 pounds.

Our full package fishing rate is $1,150 per person for a 3 day 4 night stay. Extra days of fishing are charged at $300. This package includes: Ground transportation to and from the lodge from McAllen, Harlingen or Brownsville TX airports, 3 great meals a day. cold drinks, beer, Open Bar, water, guide, boat (with trolling motor), fuel for boat, Mexican fishing license, being waited on like a fishing king and all the fun you can stand. Not included: Tackle, tips and Mexican visa (currently there is no charge for the 7 day visa but that could change).

If you would like to fish out of your own boat we offer room and board accommodations for $125.00 per person per night. This includes 3 meals per day, room, border crossing assistance for you, your towing vehicle and boat, electricity for charging your trolling motor batteries, beer and cold drinks in the lodge only (not on the water). Not included: Mexican fishing license ($30.00 current - 7 day, $50.00 for an annual permit), Mexican boat permit ($48.00 current - it's good for a year), transportation and fuel. We have fuel available at the launch as well as ice cold drinks and beer. The fishing since the water has risen has been great. Most anglers are catching over 50 fish per day per fishermen. Some are catching well over 100 fish per day. One 10+ pounder for every eight fisherman was the case in 2006 and most teams putting together their best 5 fish stringer daily of over 20 to 25 pounds. Still hearing plenty stories at supper of the big one's that got away.....lol

We offer some of the best Whitewing Dove, wild quail, duck, goose and coyote hunting in northern Mexico. Please call us for our current hunting prices and be sure to ask about our group rates.
